South Korea Journey 2012

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:01 pm

This morning I was walking down the beach and through the green forest of pines. It was my last relaxed morning walk here at Jinha. Still I have a lot of memories in my mind of an event, which was fun and challenging at the same moment. For the very first time I made it [...]

MMA Top 10 Middleweights: Intrigue Grows at 185 Pounds

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:01 am

by Michael David SmithWe haven’t updated our rankings of the Top 10 middleweights in mixed martial arts in quite some time because, frankly, Anderson Silva has made it a boring division.

That’s not to say Silva is boring: When he’s on his game, he’s as exciting as any athlete this sport has ever seen. And it’s not to say the other fighters in the division are boring: There have been plenty of good middleweight scraps over the last few months.

But ranking the middleweight division can get boring because not much changes: It’s always Silva on top, and a familiar cast of characters competing for the right to be Silva’s next victim.

But there are some indications that the middleweight division in mixed martial arts might be getting a little more interesting. Yushin Okami is finally scheduled to get the title shot that was promised to him months ago, Chael Sonnen is finally getting close to being cleared for a return, and the addition of Strikeforce middleweights (starting in July with Jason Mayhem Miller and likely including Strikeforce champ Jacare Souza soon) may inject some new blood into the middleweight class.

So now is a good time to update our list of the Top 10 middleweights in mixed martial arts, keeping an eye on what’s ahead for Silva and the other top fighters. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

Weekend warriors: Michael Chandler, Team Faber lead the weekend with big wins

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 7:01 pm

Though the weekend was dominated by the UFC fights on Fox, there were plenty of other fights over the weekend, including this quick knockout Michael Chandler pulled off at Bellator:

In his first fight since beating Eddie Alvarez for the Bellator lightweight title, Chandler needed just 0:56 to TKO Akihiro Gono. After the bout, Gono said he was retiring from his 18-year MMA career that included bouts in Pride, the UFC, Sengoku and Bellator.
In other Bellator action, Bryan Baker earned a trip to the welterweight tourney final with a decision over Ben Saunders. Heavyweight Damian Grabowski decisioned Dave Huckaba in a bout that registered as less-than-exciting, and Ryan Ford TKOed Luis Santos in the second round.
On “The Ultimate Fighter,” Urijah Faber won the most important event: the Coaches Challenge. He beat Dominick Cruz in an obstacle course that involved the use of a grenade launcher. Afterwards, Andy Ogle beat Mike Rio with a rear naked choke to give Team Faber five fighters in the quarterfinals. Next week, James Vick will face Joe Proctor and Justin Lawrence will take on Michael Chiesa in the first quarterfinal bouts.
At Super Fight League, (go ahead and sing the song) James Thompson beat Bobby Lashley in a unanimous decision. Zelg Galesic scored the weekend’s memorable moment with a flying knee knockout of Doug Marshall.
What was your favorite bout of the weekend? Speak up in the comments, on Facebook or on Twitter.

webOS 3.0 beta now available to developers

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 10:02 am

With the webOS 3.0 SDK available for almost two months, HP has now given developers access to a beta download of webOS 3.0 — which powers the upcoming TouchPad and will likely ride along on HP desktops and laptops in the form of an emulator.

Right now, the webOS 3.0 beta is only available to Early Access developers. The crew at PreCentral states that HP appears to have eased up on access restrictions, however, so hopefully more devs will get on board and those of you who are planning to buy a TouchPad in the next couple months will have plenty of slick webOS 3.0 apps to install on your new tablet.webOS 3.0 beta now available to developers originally appeared on Download Squad on Thu, 31 Mar 2011 09:45:00 EST.
